Ten Panel Screen of Seasonal Birds, animals and landscapes:  Signed Shim Chon, Sealed Ahn Chung Shik and Shim Chon,  this is a 10 panel folding screen, ink and color on silk, it is his early work, painted in seasonal landscapes: Spring, Summer and Autumn, originally made for a folding 10 panel screen, but now each panel separated, He is one of the most predominant painters in Korean modern painting history, it is in very good condition.

Measurements: 46" length, 13" width.

 

About Him: Ahn Chung Shik was born in Seoul and studied painting under O Won, Chang Sung-Up (1843-1897). In 1881 he went to China with Cho Sok-Chin (1853-1920) and studied drawing and Chinese. His work was shown  at the Seohwa Misul exhibition in Seoul during the years 1913-16. In 1918 he organized the Hyehwa Ruck Art association and he became the first president. He is well known as a landscape bird and flower painter and is one of the greatest exponents of modernism in 20th century Korean painting.
